I am such a corny sucker!!
I just looove musicals from Grease to Mamma Mia – just love it, so last night’s episode of Grey’s was right up my alley and the final song, sang by Callie – Brandi Carlile’s The Story one of my all time favourites!

It seems that everywhere I look these days, I find birds or bird nests - must be part of the whole going back to nature and making our homes our nests trend!
So recently whilst on a game drive I could not help but notice these birdies having a chat "over" the wire!
Mmmm now what to do with these lill' birdies - I feel a craft project coming on!

I cannot believe that it has been almost a month since my last entry.
Phew the last three weeks were a bit of a blur, the days all seemed to flow into each other making it difficult to tell whether it is Monday or Friday. Now that “normality” and some sort of a routine is about to kick in again I find myself in the middle of all sorts of strat planning and future-decision-making… These are interesting times indeed.
Just wanted to share a few projects and ideas with you:

Okay just thought of doing a wee photo blog today nothing hectic.
So here goes:
A awesome handmade Christmas gift I got from V&B must still post the pic of the journal I got with the cookies (boasting a beautiful pewter cover). I gave them each a pewter class as a gift, so I guess it is the gift that keeps on giving. Loved the personal thoughts and attention that went into it!

In an effort to keep my kids occupied last weekend (rain,
rain and little more rain) I pulled out my Pewter set and showed them how to do
this cool craft.
The pewter set I have myself not even used as I have been too
busy and really wanted to safe this craft for a special occasion – that pewter
set – what we will not do for our kids!
I tried starting a project myself but soon gave up as I realized
that I cannot craft and be teacher at the same time.Pity as I have b...

Oh how do I count my blessings today.
I am just so so so happy (yes it called for 3 so’s).You know that hop skip and a jump happy
feeling.If this was a Bollywood
movie everybody around me would burst into spontaneous song and dance, and I
would be the ultra sexy one in the middle with tall dark and mysterious next to
me.
Why?
It is my one-and-only’s B-day today – B-days are
big in our house!
I got the best (restrained my self not go best
best best here) n...

I just love cloads ...
Not sure if it is the whimsical puffiness, the dream quality or the fact the in an instant a cloud can be whatever it wants to be, but I love clouds. I find myself constantly taking pictures of these giant floating dreamy skyballs.

A belated blog on a year-end function I did in December.
The theme was "back to basics", enjoying the simpler things in life and the budget was recession inspired. The function was presented at a private game farm and included an awesome game drive. The colours; turquoise, orange and brown.
The invitations:
Inside: plain white paper with black copy. Outside: brown paper with a brown satin ribbon zig-zag-sewed to the paper, The little crochet circles were inspired by the cool retro ribbon.

My kids celebrate their birthdays In October, December and January. Hectic I know! So that means that I have to plan kiddy birthdays for four consecutive months, throw in Christmas and New Year and you have once insane mother.
This year I got the brainwave of all brainwaves, why not present one big party, each kid may invite 10 friends, we find a date in the middle and we have a kiddies carnival! (And maybe a more sane mother).
The kids bought it! So on 10 December last year we had our very f... Continue reading ...

We've been experiencing some unusually high rainfall here in Gauteng over the last couple of weeks. And just as I thought that my irritation with damp, leaking roofs and washing that cannot dry reached an all time high, I am rewarded with this beautiful image in my garden (maybe a better word would be swamp)!

I’ve decided that I have been way to “uninvolved” with my home. It is as if on Saturday morning I suddenly looked at my house with different eyes and realised just how I have neglected this special space. Spotless clean it may be (thanks to our matron Lucy), but sadly neglected unappreciated and not as loved as it should be. I have somehow removed my “label” from the house and the three kido’s have cunningly invaded every space and filled it with their being. Not a bad thing bu... Continue reading ...

Yeah! And another gift arrived yesterday!
Thank you Y!
She grew, yes grew this especially for me! Whilst handing it over she explained how to's and very seriously said that she knows that I do not have green fingers, so I must please call her if I need assistance. Think I might just take her up on that offer, as yes sadly I do not have green fingers.
How beautiful is this? Fits my kitchen window as if it was designed for it!

I recently celebrated a milestone B-day, I was blessed enough to celebrate it on another continent which meant that I got to stretch the festivities and came home to more celebrations. How lucky can one girl be, I know!
So when I arrived home, three days later than planned (remember I told you about my lill extended visit to the Madrid airport), I walked into a surprise party at home. How cool to be greeted by my offspring in party hats, melting chocolate cake, Toy Story serviettes and plate... Continue reading ...

Lavender!
I've always loved lavender, there is something about the smell that just makes me skippy jumpy yummy happy! It just oozes love, the fact any shade of purple excites me helps a lot.
So here is what is making me happy today.
The lavender growing at my front door, embrasing me every night with a huge big ... WELCOME HOME!
Just love being creative, be it writing, tinkering in the studio, cooking or playing fairy-godmother to old run-down stuff.
I firmly believe that upcycling is the way of the future, there are already too many "things" on earth so rather repurpose something old and give it a beautiful creative new lease of life. It it's broken ... upcycle it!
Stick it to the mass manufacturers and support handmade product.
