Some great dames I picked up a few weeks ago.

Wow I wish these girls could talk, I would love to hear the stories of their lives.

New look and feel for CE

Posted by Ietsies on Friday, May 6, 2011, In : Furniture
My mother has a way of roping me in and making me do things (and enjoy it) without me realizing, and only halfway through the project I stop and go “What the heck?”.

She again used her magic on me during the Easter break this year, and without me realizing we revamped one of her hair salons – what the heck!

Still not done but here are a few progress pics and some of the befores.  The befores were taken in 2005.

Monday Show and Tell

Posted by Ietsies on Monday, April 18, 2011, In : Furniture

Oh my word winter caught us off-guard here in Gauteng!  Overnight we went from Autumn to Cape Town winter – cold and wet!

Lazy lazy weather!  Perfect couch weather.  And that is just what I did this past weekend!

Normally Saturday’s are reserved for PPSV (Platteland Pawn Shop Visits) but Saturday we took some time off and just did one quick visit (See ball and claw showcase).  Back at home by 14:00 armed with big bucket of popcorn and five DVD’s (yes being the perfect...

Furniture Fair

Posted by Ietsies on Thursday, April 14, 2011, In : Furniture

Okay there is a furniture party going on and its happening in my garage. I guess you could call it a garage furniture fair, if this was NY it would be an underground basement party.

Soon there will not be enough space for my car to fit....

Hopefully the furniture will find some temporary resting places in my house this weekend after their individual "spa-sessions" and colour make-overs.  There after?  Well that issue still needs some clearing.

I really am in love with each and avery piece and ca...

Growing Finds

Posted by Ietsies on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, In : Furniture

And my furniture stash is growing …. Our garage has been transformed into a glorified pawn shop!  Hubby’s car has been evicted and if the stash carries on growing like this, soon my car too will be out on the pavement!

What to do with all this furniture …. Do I have a plan?  Mmmmmh Maybe, Maybe not….

Just LOVING the adventure!

Weekend flings

Posted by Ietsies on Monday, March 14, 2011, In : Furniture

Monday already?

Do your watch also loose time over weekends?

It is the most peculiar thing, the one moment it is Friday afternoon, and the weekend is courting you with its sweet whispers and promises of all the nice things that the two of you will get up to.  You blink, look at your watch and it is 9 pm Sunday … leaving you with a distinct feeling of betrayal. Where did the weekend go?

And you realise, the weekend definitely was not as into you as you were into it,...

A lick, stick and some paint

Posted by on Thursday, January 13, 2011, In : Furniture

January really is a magical month, it signals the start of a new calendar year, opening the doors to the unknown and filling us with anticipation of what this year holds.  It whispers tales of new beginnings, and provides us with the opportunity to start afresh, to relook, change and reinvent.

And even if it is not a live-changing event you seek, it might just be a change of “familiarities”, changing your everyday environment, as this small change may spark and lead to more creative cha...

Dressed for well uhm not yet success

Posted by Ietsies on Friday, April 23, 2010, In : Furniture

We are working on a new furniture project here at ietsies, a have-seen-better-days-dresser.  It arrived on Monday with compliments of my brother who bought it at a Friday night auction for 100 bucks.

Ok not the most styling piece of furniture but I am watering a couple of creative seeds for th...

Office cupboard

Posted by Ietsies on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, In : Furniture
In February this year we were invited to exhibit some of our work at the Gauteng HOMEMAKERS Expo, apart from several projects we did on our own we also upcycled this old melamine office cupboard with another designer Bendizwe (sorry no link me thinks their site is still under contruction).

Here is a 'lill pictorial of what we did to this old boring and rather drab office cupboard.

About Me

ietsies Just love being creative, be it writing, tinkering in the studio, cooking or playing fairy-godmother to old run-down stuff. I firmly believe that upcycling is the way of the future, there are already too many "things" on earth so rather repurpose something old and give it a beautiful creative new lease of life. It it's broken ... upcycle it! Stick it to the mass manufacturers and support handmade product.
