So many things so little time

Posted by Ietsies on Friday, April 23, 2010,
Why oh why do time fly when you are having fun?

Don't you just wish that you could press pause and carry on having fun?

So little time and so many ideas, but that's not my only challenge, nope, my worst challenge is self-inflicted - its my short span of attention.

I find that I have to work on more than ...

We are working on a new furniture project here at ietsies, a have-seen-better-days-dresser.  It arrived on Monday with compliments of my brother who bought it at a Friday night auction for 100 bucks.

Ok not the most styling piece of furniture but I am watering a couple of creative seeds for th...

Ok busy busy week here, so I do not have loads of time today for a BIG update on my busy and creative weekend.

But here are a few sneak peeks at what is happening in the Ietsies Studio (apart from the huge and I mean HUGE clean-up over the weekend, will post photos on the new and improved studio later in the week)

Have a creative week!

Pom Pom Wool

Posted by Ietsies on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, In : Kniting
I spotted this yarn at Romy's Habby over the Easter weekend and instantly fell in love!  You will not believe how fast this knits, it takes about an hour and half to knit one scarf (took 3 "balls" of the wool/yarn per scarf).

I am not yet finished with this but here is a sneak peak at the two scarfs I am making for Kido-1 and Kido-2.

Plastic bag yarn

Posted by Ietsies on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, In : Plastic
I had to dress "green" for a recent awards function and as I was fresh out of hemp to sew myself a dress with the help of the eco-friendly godmother and fairy mice I had to come up with an alternative.

Took me two days of pondering but eventually I got that AHA moment and decided to go with eco-friendly accessories, and then ended up crocheting myself a handbag, necklace and earrings from plastic bags.

Well check it out … here are my handmade “green accessories” crochet from plastic ba...

Office cupboard

Posted by Ietsies on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, In : Furniture
In February this year we were invited to exhibit some of our work at the Gauteng HOMEMAKERS Expo, apart from several projects we did on our own we also upcycled this old melamine office cupboard with another designer Bendizwe (sorry no link me thinks their site is still under contruction).

Here is a 'lill pictorial of what we did to this old boring and rather drab office cupboard.

About Me

ietsies Just love being creative, be it writing, tinkering in the studio, cooking or playing fairy-godmother to old run-down stuff. I firmly believe that upcycling is the way of the future, there are already too many "things" on earth so rather repurpose something old and give it a beautiful creative new lease of life. It it's broken ... upcycle it! Stick it to the mass manufacturers and support handmade product.
